Rivers & Canals of Europe

With two nights in Bordeaux and overnights in Lisbon and Seville, prepare for an immersive discovery of some of Europe’s most dazzling riverside cities on board the incredible Azamara Quest®.

Begin in historic Southampton, the departure point for so many famous ships, sail across the English Channel to Guernsey. Start in St. Peter Port and take a tour around this charming, scenic island with its brightly painted houses and rugged seaside cliffs.

Next, we’re off to Bordeaux, the scenic gateway to France’s largest wine-making region. Treat yourself to two days of tours and tastings through the area’s nearly 2,000 years of winemaking history.

Explore Bilbao’s Guggenheim Museum, savor Basque-style tapas, and sip remarkable Rioja wines before another relaxing day at sea. In Porto, at the mouth of the Rio Douro, be sure to try some tawny port and fresh-grilled, succulent seafood.

An overnight in Lisbon follows, where the 12th century church of Igreja de Sao Vicente de Fora and Musée Calouste Gulbenkian—one of Europe’s best fine arts museums—await. Then, gaze in awe at the vast Spanish countryside as we cruise the tranquil Guadalquivir River to Seville. Mingle with locals in tapas bars, see some of the finest flamenco dancers in Spain, or visit the Gothic cathedral, home to Columbus’ tomb.

With a late stay in Gibraltar, venture 1,400 feet up for stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea, and say hello to the troupes of Barbary macaques that live on The Rock’s upper reaches. After a relaxing day at sea, your voyage concludes in bustling Barcelona, where you’ll want to stay a few days to discover the City of Gaudi’s fascinating landmarks, art, and architecture spanning two millennia.
