A History-Rich Easter Island & French Polynesia Cruise

Sail from Peru to French Polynesia on this immersive voyage aboard the Azamara Onward. It all begins in Lima, a city brimming with epic sights, enchanting culture, and rich history. Next, get ready to spend the next five days unwinding and enjoying life aboard at sea. Pamper yourself at The Sanctum Spa, take in a wine tasting hosted by our sommeliers, and taste a world of flavors at our onboard restaurants. Your next destination—the town of Hanga Roa on Easter Island, Chile—will be well worth the wait. On this overnight stay, you’ll have ample time to amble along Hanga Roa’s streets, lined with quaint local restaurants and craft shops. Embark on a shore excursion that takes you up close and personal with the famed moai– monolithic human figures carved by the Rapa Nui people—between the years 1400 and 1650 A.D.

Depart Hanga Roa for two days at sea before arriving in Adamstown, the capital of Pitcairn Island, U.K. With just 40 inhabitants, it’s the world’s most remote island. See impossibly clear waters, unspoiled vistas from every angle, and several species of seabirds that nest on the island, including the flightless Henderson Crake, Fairy Terns, and the Pitcairn Island Warbler. After two days at sea, you’ll wake up in Fakarava, French Polynesia. This tiny island is big on natural wonder—after all, it’s a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Crystal-clear waters make this protected area a truly magical snorkeling spot, where you’ll encounter plenty of local wildlife and giant, fluorescent coral heads.

The next day, it’s time to discover the island of Moorea during an overnight stay. Here, you’ll find Belvedere Lookout—the highest point on the island accessible by vehicle and a must-visit spot for those chasing stunning panoramic views. While exploring the coast, keep an eye out for spinner dolphins, rough-toothed dolphins, and pilot whales. The final stop of your journey is in Papeete, Tahiti. Explore Arahurahu Marae, an ancient Polynesian temple that has been impeccably restored and maintained to museum quality. You may even see a reenactment of old Polynesian ceremonies and celebrations during your visit. History buffs and bookworms will love exploring author and war veteran James Norman Hall’s Home, a small museum surrounded by colorful gardens.
