Day One Your guide will meet you and your fellow adventurers as soon as you disembark in St. Richard's Bay (there are only six spots available on this exclusive tour, so you're sure to make some close friends). Relax on the scenic drive to the Phinda Private Game Reserve, a 43,000-acre wildlife sanctuary that you'll be exploring over the next two days. Arrive at the main entrance and hop into a wide-open 4x4 for a rumbling ride through the wilderness to the Phinda Mountain Lodge. Enjoy a refreshing welcome drink and a light lunch before checking into your private wilderness suite, artfully designed to take full advantage of the beautiful scenery with a veranda, plunge pool, and outdoor shower. Get settled before regrouping for the day's big adventure - a late afternoon game drive to spot Africa's Big Five. Come sundown, continue the safari by spotlight to witness nocturnal carnivores on the prowl and other animals roaming under a blanket of stars. Later on, your guides will find a nice clearing in the bush for snacks and Sundowner cocktails. Then, it's back to the lodge and your luxurious suite. Get a good night's sleep because tomorrow you set out on foot. Day Two Day two begins with an early morning wake-up call. Meet the group in the lounge area for tea, coffee and fresh biscuits, and then, it's time to set out on foot. Your quest for the day is to spot the elusive and highly endangered black rhino. Follow expert guides and trackers who'll teach you to identify rhino tracks and pick out telltale "scratching posts" that signal one of the great beasts might be nearby. With no vehicles to get in the way, the only sounds you'll hear are those of Mother Nature. Feel the anticipation as you search with heightened awareness among the grasslands and trees. If fortune is on your side, you'll soon be able to count yourself among the few who have encountered a black rhino in the wild. Trek back to the lodge for a well-earned breakfast before packing up and heading to Durban Harbour to rejoin the ship. Your two-day safari also includes a special engagement by a World Wildlife Fund conservationist who'll provide further insight into the black rhino and other endangered species. Azamara is proud to announce that $30 from the sale of this tour goes to support WWF conservation efforts in South Africa.
