Embark on a wildlife cruise to the Bird Islands reserved for no more than 12 nature enthusiasts. It's a good 37 miles to reach this Marine Protected Area (MAP), so be sure to have your sea legs under you for the open-water run. Along the way, a naturalist from World Wildlife Fund will provide insight into some of the birds, mammals and other creatures you might encounter. Upon reaching Bird Island, be sure to have your camera ready. This sanctuary is home to 250,000 Cape gannets, with their distinctive yellow crowns, as well as endangered African penguins that nest on the island. You'll cruise past the playful seals of Black Rock, where you might also spot feeding great white sharks. Plus, keep watch for humpback and minke whales, dolphins, and other wildlife that thrive in these waters. Azamara is proud to announce that $30 from the sale of this tour goes to support WWF conservation efforts in South Africa.
