Discover the history of Paros Island in rugged and regal fashion, beginning at the marble quarries of Marathi. Witness the luminous white faces from which Paros Marble has been cut since ancient times. Archeologists believe that 75% of all sculptures in the Aegean were made from this radiant stone. From here, a short drive leads to the highland village of Lefkes, the capital of Paros during The Middle Ages. Wander about whitewashed homes and stunning examples of Venetian architecture in this town that time seems to have forgotten. Pop into a local café for some coffee and a sweet before beginning your trek down the famed Byzantine Road. Paved in Paros Marble and dating to the year 1000 AD, the mostly downhill pathway offers up stunning views of the sea and Naxos Island beyond. Make your way to the seaside village of Prodromos where your ride to the ship will be waiting.
