Soak up the best views on Madeira as you soar high above Funchal and the surrounding coastline aboard the city's high-flying cable car. Your panoramic leads to the suburb of Monte for the chance to visit its beautiful 18th-century church. There is one small catch. To reach it, you'll have to trek up some 250 steps. Your efforts will be rewarded with the chance to explore this masterpiece adorned with exquisite gold pieces and containing the tomb of Carlos de Habsburg, the last Emperor of Austria. Afterwards, it's time to head back down to Funchal. You won't be taking the cable car this time. Instead, climb into a wicker toboggan piloted by two experts one on each side for a controlled downhill run atop the steep and winding roads. Enjoy a carefree 2 km ride that'll have you twisting, turning and taking in the views all the way back to your finishing point in Livramento.
Soak up incredible views of Funchal and the coast on a 15-minute cable car ride to Monte.
Brave the more than 240 steps necessary to explore the 18th-century Church of Monte.
